Feeling overwhelmed, low, anxious, stressed, or stuck?

Maybe you are at a crossroads in your life?

Susan Carr Counselling can help you understand and manage whatever life throws at you, as well as developing the techniques and skills to effectively deal with the challenges you face.

Whether it’s your career, your relationships, a general feeling of not being OK or you want to gain greater self awareness, therapy offers the time and space to help you to make sense of your life.

I qualified in 2012 and am a registered accredited member of the British Assocation of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have experience of working in the NHS and as an adoption support counsellor.   I am particularly interested in work-related stress, as my first career was as a commercial litigation solicitor and therefore I understand the demands and pressures of working in a corporate environment.

Abstract Horizon

Counselling and psychotherapy, although often described as a "talking therapies", involve both talking and listening,  in that they offer you a private space to talk through issues with someone who will listen attentively and respectfully.

There are a number of different types of therapy (details of which can be found on the BACP website), and the approach I use is integrative. This means that I am able to use a range of  methods which can be tailored to meet your individual needs as no two people are the same. This also means that I am able to work with you on a short, medium or long term basis.

I believe that relationship is at the heart of the process  and therefore the values that underpin my approach are empathy, genuineness and acceptance.

Go Team

It is not quite clear yet the full extent to which Covid-19 has impacted on mental health, however it is likely that employees will have been affected in some way. For example, there may have been increased anxiety relating to health, job security and personal finances.

Although there has been the opportunity to embrace flexible working, the reality for some employees has meant longer or more irregular hours as well as having to combine this with home-schooling leading to increased stress levels.

Workplace therapy can be a positive way of providing support to staff that not only helps them with their mental health but can also benefit the business in terms of a happier workforce, improved morale, reduced sickness absence, increased productivity and a lower staff turnover rate.

Tracey Jackson, Able Care and Support Services

“Able Care and Support Services has been accessing Susan Carr counselling services for our employees. It has proved extremely successful for our staff. They feel they have had the opportunity to have a voice about their personal situations, where perhaps before, they have felt alone and isolated. As an employer we listen, support and advise, but we are not counsellors, we are a caring employer who wants our employees to feel safe and happy. Susan is approachable, supportive and understands the struggles of an employer when one of their team needs additional support that is outside of their abilities. We refer directly to Susan via email and provide the name and contact details of the employee, and Susan does the rest! Every member of staff who has accessed these services have said how much they have learned and been well supported by Susan”
